Acts of Violence

A doctor (Il Lim) finds himself living a double life as a killer and a husband as he avenges the rape of his wife. When his wife (Leelee Sobieski) suspects what he’s up to, he lies to her and finds unexpected help from a priest (Ron Perlman).

I had the privilege of co-producing and line producing this indie, martial-arts, horror drama.

Vengeance Trail

2010 is going to be the year of the Eyre Films feature. Here are two scripts in my slate ready to go and a third idea in the works. Email me for queries.

The Probie

When a gifted musician songwriter's band breaks up, and he finds out his favored older brother can't take on the family career of firefighting, he strives to become a firefighter and please his respected fireman dad.  To pass his probie year he must overcome his phobias of heights and blood and his embittered fire captain's resolve to fail him.  Tragedy leads to the discovery of his genuine gift and he finds his true calling in the therapeutic power of music.

The Void

A supernatural darkness traps strangers inside a house and their pasts begin to haunt them. Watch the teaser trailer.

“Steak & Espionage”

This first film I ever produced was shot in Atlanta in 1997 and 1998 on 16mm B&W. My buddy Stephen directed and we poached all sorts of locations with our home-brewed steadicam and pickup truck-mounted jib arm. Dick Cross, a special effects coordinator friend, donated the pyro. How many years in the making?

in the works

“Pop Star”

Here’s a short 16mm film I produced for Mosaic Films at Mosaic. We turned some rooms at the Union Rescue Mission downtown Los Angeles into our hospital set. Because Mosaic wanted to screen it on a particular Sunday we ended up shooting it on one weekend and screening it the following weekend.

In “Pop Star,” a spoiled British pop star lands in the emergency room after his hair is set on fire, he’s unprepared for his temporary roommate, a precocious eight-year-old girl, and for the bond that quickly forges between them.

I also produced this 35mm short -- and cut the master print in my bathroom using a hot splicer I rented. Had to get my hands dirty to finish my self-taught film school. Only had three mistakes I had to pay a negative cutter to fix.

And finally, here are some shorts I helped produce for the 168 Hour Film Project.

Untitled Supernatural Thriller

The third project is under wraps for now, but think of it as a Blair Witch or a Paranormal Activity crossed with Identity.
