“Bored to Death”

Here’s a fun zombie spec commercial I directed for Doritos’ Crash the Superbowl, starring The Doug Jones and Bob Yerkes.

Also on:

Catnap

A Cat Burglar tries to steal evidence from

a napping Private Investigator. TRT 3:54

My self-taught film school began with a splash. Here’s my directorial debut, a non sync-sound short shot and cut on 35mm. It won best cinemetography at the 2003 Houston Worldfest, but my favorite moment was screening a print on the huge screen at Fox Studios’ Richard Zanuck Theater. I couldn’t resist laying on the floor under the 20+ foot tall screen and watching it the same way I watched my first 16mm footage shot on my Bolex wind up camera, projected onto a nearby apartment so that it was letterboxed by the roof and bushes, and viewed while laying on the parking below.

Joseph’s Wheel of Destiny

An office comedy I directed about Joe, an extremely favored employee, who escapes his jealous coworkers via his "Destiny for Greatness;" a soothing voice on his iPod. TRT 08:15. Nominated for best comedy at the 2009 168 Film Project.

The Mighty She-Ro

Here’s an experimental short I directed for actress Birkleigh Foreman who wanted a thirty second action piece to add to her reel. She could be the next action star, right? My only regret is not filming a shot of her emptying the rocks out of her handbag.

Welcome to Sundown

And finally, here’s a supernatural thriller I cut my directing teeth on, which is rough in spots but gave me confidence and practice with all sorts of skills that I need as a director. An exec at Disney complimented it as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets “Touched By an Angel.”

When the only pastor is run out of Sundown by vampires, Chris Farmer may be the last source of Light in a town that's embracing Darkness. TRT 18:42.

Chevy Lemon Pie

Chevy ran a Super Bowl ad contest this year, so I called up my buddy Dan Rice at 66toCali down on the Santa Monica Pier and he helped me create a spot that highlights a true story of the down-to-earth, local heroism and adventurism that can be found all along America’s Main Street.

“Lemonade Stand”

My entry into the 2010 Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl contest involves, hopefully my interesting take on the well overused trope of Lemonade Stands.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzkgHDinInY&list=UU5L2xbc0U6gOTNmwkEmeRqQ&index=2&feature=plcphttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzkgHDinInY&list=UU5L2xbc0U6gOTNmwkEmeRqQ&index=2&feature=plcpshapeimage_3_link_0

I didn’t direct a Doritos spot this year, but I did stunt coordinate two and they both made the Finals. Please vote every day for “Sling Baby” or “Bird of Prey.”
